The 2024 sixty-day scheme was a special case issued under <strong>section 17 of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979)<\/strong>. The new thirty-day list is issued under <strong>clause 13 of the Ministerial Regulation Prescribing Rules, Procedures and Conditions for Visa Examination, Exemption and Change of Type of Visa, B.E. 2545 (2002)<\/strong>, the ordinary visa-exemption route. Both were approved by Cabinet on 14 July 2026, signed on 26 August 2026 and published on 31 August 2026 in Volume 143, Special Part 207 Ngor. They take effect fifteen days after publication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What this means for employers.<\/strong> A foreign national who arrives visa-exempt after the effective date is admitted as a tourist. Companies that used the sixty-day exemption to cover short assignments, site visits, audits, machinery installation, training and the urgent-work notification should plan on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thailawonline.com\/fr\/non-b-business-visa-in-thailand\/\">Visa de non-immigrant B<\/a> obtained before travel. The Department of Employment has not published guidance on whether the urgent work notification remains available to someone admitted under a tourism-only exemption. Until it does, the visa is the conservative route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Travellers admitted on or before 14 September 2026 keep the period stamped in the passport. The one-time thirty-day extension at an immigration office survives.
