The draft sets a ceiling of <b>5 000 bahts<\/b> and, unlike the 1983 decree it replaces, applies to <b>every nationality<\/b>, residents and long-stay expats included.<\/p>\n<p>Consultation opened <b>30 septembre 2026<\/b> and closes <b>29 October 2026<\/b>. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas defended the measure on 7 October. If it proceeds, it takes effect <b>180 jours<\/b> after publication of a Royal Gazette notice, and tickets bought before that date would not be charged. Land and sea exits, children aged two or under, airside transit passengers and crew on duty are exempt.<\/p>\n<p>Nothing is law yet.
