The answer has three parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"no-expiry\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The certificate has no expiry date printed on it<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Police Clearance Service Center&#8217;s own published document sheet, which sets out the fee, the processing time and the document list, says nothing about validity or expiry. Nothing on the certificate itself says &#8220;valid until&#8221;. In Thai law the document does not lapse on its own. What matters is the date of issue printed on it and the recency rule of whoever asked for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"who-decides\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who decides how long it is good for<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The receiving authority sets the window, and the windows differ. The certificate shows its issue date. How recent it must be is set by the authority you give it to, and many ask for one issued within the last 3 or 6 months, so check with them before you apply. Employers and professional licensing bodies are usually more relaxed. The practical rule: find the recency requirement of the visa, job or licence you are applying for, count back from your submission date, and apply so the certificate is issued inside that window. Applying too early is the most common way to have to pay for it twice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"three-month-rule\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The &#8220;3 months&#8221; rule you have read about is a different document<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sixteen variations of one search ask whether a Thai police clearance is &#8220;valid for 3 months&#8221; for a visa. The confusion comes from Thailand&#8217;s own retirement visa rules, and no page on the English web separates the two documents cleanly, so here it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ministry of Foreign Affairs&#8217; requirements for the Non-Immigrant O-A (Long Stay) visa ask for a letter or certificate <strong>issued by the country of the applicant&#8217;s nationality or residence<\/strong> stating that the applicant has no criminal record, and that document must be <strong>valid for not more than three months<\/strong> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thailawonline.com\/glossary\/notary\/\">notarised by a notary<\/a> or by the applicant&#8217;s own diplomatic mission. The O-X visa follows the same pattern. That is a <em>foreign<\/em> police certificate, issued by <em>your own country&#8217;s<\/em> police, presented <em>to<\/em> a Thai embassy. The Royal Thai Police does not issue it. The same Ministry page does list having no criminal record in Thailand as an eligibility condition, so an embassy may separately ask a long-term resident of Thailand for the Thai certificate, but the three month rule attaches to the home-country letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Thai PCC on this page travels in the opposite direction: issued by the Thai police, presented to a foreign government or employer. It carries no 3 month rule, or any other printed limit. If you are applying for a Thai retirement visa and a checklist says &#8220;police clearance, valid 3 months&#8221;, it means the certificate from home. Applying to the Special Branch Bureau instead costs you the fee and at least fifteen working days, and gets you a document the embassy did not ask for. We have never found a source for that number. It does not appear on the Centre&#8217;s document sheet, it is not printed on the certificate, and no receiving authority we know of applies it. It is a myth with a number attached. We removed it in September 2026 rather than replace it with a different guess. If a checklist gives you a validity period, that period comes from the checklist&#8217;s author, not from the Royal Thai Police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"which-office\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which office issues it, and why half the internet sends you to the wrong one<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The parent organisation is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.royalthaipolice.go.th\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Royal Thai Police<\/a> (<span lang=\"th\" translate=\"no\" data-no-translation>\u0e2a\u0e33\u0e19\u0e31\u0e01\u0e07\u0e32\u0e19\u0e15\u0e33\u0e23\u0e27\u0e08\u0e41\u0e2b\u0e48\u0e07\u0e0a\u0e32\u0e15\u0e34<\/span>; French: <span lang=\"fr\" translate=\"no\" data-no-translation>Police royale tha\u00eflandaise<\/span>). For this application, use its <a href=\"https:\/\/pcscenter.sbpolice.go.th\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Police Clearance Service Center<\/a> (<span lang=\"th\" translate=\"no\" data-no-translation>\u0e28\u0e39\u0e19\u0e22\u0e4c\u0e1a\u0e23\u0e34\u0e01\u0e32\u0e23\u0e2d\u0e2d\u0e01\u0e2b\u0e19\u0e31\u0e07\u0e2a\u0e37\u0e2d\u0e23\u0e31\u0e1a\u0e23\u0e2d\u0e07\u0e04\u0e27\u0e32\u0e21\u0e1b\u0e23\u0e30\u0e1e\u0e24\u0e15\u0e34<\/span>) within the Special Branch Bureau (<span lang=\"th\" translate=\"no\" data-no-translation>\u0e01\u0e2d\u0e07\u0e1a\u0e31\u0e0d\u0e0a\u0e32\u0e01\u0e32\u0e23\u0e15\u0e33\u0e23\u0e27\u0e08\u0e2a\u0e31\u0e19\u0e15\u0e34\u0e1a\u0e32\u0e25<\/span>). The French agency name is an explanatory translation. Check the Centre&#8217;s current instructions for your applicant category before sending original documents. If the receiving authority also asks for authentication, follow our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thailawonline.com\/legalization-of-documents-in-thailand\/\">document legalisation guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"address\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The correct address, from the Centre&#8217;s own sheet<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The certificate is issued by the Police Clearance Service Center (<span lang=\"th\">\u0e28\u0e39\u0e19\u0e22\u0e4c\u0e1a\u0e23\u0e34\u0e01\u0e32\u0e23\u0e2d\u0e2d\u0e01\u0e2b\u0e19\u0e31\u0e07\u0e2a\u0e37\u0e2d\u0e23\u0e31\u0e1a\u0e23\u0e2d\u0e07\u0e04\u0e27\u0e32\u0e21\u0e1b\u0e23\u0e30\u0e1e\u0e24\u0e15\u0e34<\/span>), which sits inside the Royal Thai Police <strong>Special Branch Bureau<\/strong> (<span lang=\"th\">\u0e01\u0e2d\u0e07\u0e1a\u0e31\u0e0d\u0e0a\u0e32\u0e01\u0e32\u0e23\u0e15\u0e33\u0e23\u0e27\u0e08\u0e2a\u0e31\u0e19\u0e15\u0e34\u0e1a\u0e32\u0e25<\/span>). Its published address is the Public Service Center building, 2nd floor, <strong>27\/40 Soi Vibhavadi Rangsit 27, Thung Song Hong, Lak Si, Bangkok 10210<\/strong>, telephone 0 2551 1999. It is in northern Bangkok, a short taxi ride from Don Mueang airport and close to the Government Complex on Chaeng Watthana Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guides written abroad often name the Criminal Records Division instead. That division holds the police criminal-records database, but the certificate is applied for at, and issued by, the Special Branch Bureau&#8217;s Service Center. If a checklist tells you to go to the Criminal Records Division, go to the address above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"stale-address\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Thai consulate websites still give the Pathum Wan address<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several Royal Thai embassy and consulate websites, the Consulate-General in Sydney among them, still publish the Service Center at &#8220;Building 24, Royal Thai Police Headquarters, Rama I Road, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330&#8221;, with the older telephone number. That was the Centre&#8217;s location before it moved to Lak Si. The wrong address on our own former criminal-records page was the same error the diplomatic network is still circulating. If you turn up at police headquarters in Pathum Wan, you will be sent north. Use the Lak Si address, and if a consulate&#8217;s fingerprinting service gives you a covering letter addressed to Building 24, the Centre will still accept it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"same-document\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is a Thai police clearance the same as a criminal record check?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes. A police check, a criminal record check, a criminal background check and a certificate of good conduct are the same document in Thailand: the Police Clearance Certificate issued by the Special Branch Bureau&#8217;s Service Center. For a foreign applicant, or for a certificate to use abroad, there is no second product and no second office. Checklists rarely use the official name, so if your visa application asks for a &#8220;background check&#8221; or a &#8220;police certificate covering your time in Thailand&#8221;, apply for the certificate on this page with the same forms and the same fingerprints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What the certificate reports is whether a conviction is registered against you in Thailand&#8217;s central criminal records. It does not reach into other countries&#8217; records, and if you have lived in several countries you will need a certificate from each. The two questions worth asking the authority that requested it are whether they need the certificate legalised, and what recency window they apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"cost-and-time\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What it costs and how long it takes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"fee\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The government fee: 100 baht<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Royal Thai Police charges an official fee of <strong>100 baht<\/strong> for the record check, stated on the Centre&#8217;s sheet as in force since 1 October 2012. Two variants apply in practice: 160 baht if someone else files for you at the counter, and an applicant abroad who does not send prepaid return postage transfers 700 baht instead. A Power of Attorney for a representative needs a 10 baht revenue stamp. If you use a lawyer or agent you pay a service fee on top; ours is set out below and includes the government fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"processing\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Official processing: 15 working days, or 25 where a record exists, and which sheet says so<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Centre&#8217;s sheet gives <strong>15 working days<\/strong> where the documents are complete and the check finds no record or security concern, and <strong>25 working days<\/strong> where a record exists, in which case a copy of the court judgment and a certified copy confirming the case is final must be filed as well. Nothing on the sheet offers a faster government track. <strong>Those two figures are printed on the Centre&#8217;s sheet for Thai nationals.<\/strong> Its separate sheet for a foreign applicant residing in Thailand is a document list and publishes no processing period at all, and its English sheet for applicants residing abroad gives <strong>15 to 25 working days<\/strong>. So a foreigner applying inside Thailand has no official timetable to hold the Centre to, which is why our own estimate below is longer than the government figure rather than equal to it. An agent can prepare and lodge the papers correctly the first time, which is where time is usually lost, but cannot shorten the Centre&#8217;s own processing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our normal-service estimate is about 30 days after we confirm receipt of your complete original documents. This is our service estimate, not a separate official police processing rule. Certificate issuance, receipt of the original, legalization and courier delivery are separate stages. Last reviewed: 29 Oct 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"documents\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Documents you need<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"foreign-documents\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Foreign nationals<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>A recent passport-style <strong>photograph<\/strong> (the Centre asks for two, 1 inch or 2 inch)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A copy of your <strong>passport<\/strong>, valid for at least six months<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Copies of your <strong>Thai visa page<\/strong> and the passport pages showing your Thailand <strong>entry and exit stamps<\/strong>, plus any work permit you have held<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An original <strong>fingerprint form<\/strong>, rolled at a police station, a Thai embassy or consulate, or the Centre itself (two sets if you apply from abroad)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A signed <strong>Power of Attorney<\/strong> with a 10 baht revenue stamp if someone files for you (we provide the form)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The completed application form and testimony memorandum (we provide these)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A document showing the purpose: an embassy request letter, a visa application receipt, a job offer, or a university acceptance letter<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Foreign applicants must have held lawful immigration status in Thailand. Someone with no record of legal presence has no history for the Centre to check and will not be issued a certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"thai-documents\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Thai nationals<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Centre&#8217;s sheet lists, for a Thai citizen: a valid passport and a clear copy, the national ID card and copy, the house registration, evidence of any name change, a marriage or divorce certificate where relevant, military service papers for men aged 17 to 45 (Sor Dor 8, 9 or 43, or the deferment letter), the embassy&#8217;s request for a record check or proof of a visa application, and parental consent for an applicant under 20. Additional documents depend on the purpose: an employment contract and the employer&#8217;s company registration for work abroad, a university acceptance letter for study, a residence document or invitation for residence, and a marriage certificate or invitation for marriage. All foreign-language documents must be translated into Thai by a qualified translator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"step-by-step\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to get a Thai police clearance certificate, step by step<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><strong>Gather your documents<\/strong> from the list above, including the fingerprint form.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Submit the application<\/strong> in person at the Service Center in Lak Si, by post, or through a representative holding your Power of Attorney.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pay the 100 baht fee<\/strong> in cash at the counter, or by transfer if you apply by post.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Collect the certificate<\/strong> in person, by courier, or through your representative once the Centre&#8217;s processing period has run.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Legalise it if required.<\/strong> Many foreign authorities ask for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thailawonline.com\/legalization-of-documents-in-thailand\/\">legalisation at the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs<\/a> before they accept the certificate.<\/li>\n\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"from-abroad\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Applying from outside Thailand<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You do not need to fly back to Thailand. The Centre&#8217;s own instructions for applicants residing abroad are to complete the application, testimony memorandum and fingerprint forms, gather the supporting documents and a self-addressed envelope, pay the fee, and post the whole file to the Public Service Center of the Special Branch Bureau at the Lak Si address. Two sets of original fingerprints must be taken at a Royal Thai embassy or consulate or at your local police station. You may post the application yourself or ask someone in Thailand to submit it for you under a Power of Attorney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The lawyer route works like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>Have your <strong>fingerprints rolled<\/strong> (all ten fingers) at a local police station or a Thai embassy or consulate offering this service. Confirm availability before travelling. Contact us before using another provider.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sign the <strong>Power of Attorney<\/strong> we send you, authorising us to apply and collect.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Only confirmed fast-track accepts fingerprint submission by email.<\/strong> For normal service, email scans for checking, then post the original fingerprint cards and other required originals after Orchid approves the file and provides the mailing address. Fast-track clients keep their originals and follow any additional requirements confirmed before payment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We collect the certificate, scan it to you, and courier the original to wherever you are. Allow extra time if your destination also requires legalisation.<\/li>\n\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What you pay us for is not access to the office, which is open to you directly. It is that the file is prepared correctly the first time, that someone in Bangkok answers the Centre when it asks a question, and that a rejected fingerprint card or a missing entry stamp does not cost you another round of international post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"online\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can you get a Thai police clearance certificate online?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not as a foreign applicant, and not for a certificate to use abroad. On <strong>15 July 2026<\/strong> the Royal Thai Police Criminal Records Division opened an online criminal record check that runs on a name, surname and 13-digit Thai national ID number, with identity verified through the ThaID app and the result sent by email. It was widely reported as &#8220;Thailand launches online criminal record checks&#8221;, and it does not help most readers of this page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On 19 July 2026 the Division published nine categories of check that must be done by fingerprint and cannot use the name-based service. Two of them settle the question here: applications for a police clearance certificate for travel abroad or in English, which the Division directs to the Special Branch Bureau&#8217;s Service Center on 02 551 1999, and every criminal record check requested by a non-Thai national, which must be fingerprint-based and accompanied by an official letter from the requesting agency. The other categories cover civil service and state enterprise recruitment, licences under the Department of Provincial Administration including firearms and Thai nationality, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thailawonline.com\/glossary\/immigration-bureau\/\">Immigration Bureau<\/a> applications for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thailawonline.com\/glossary\/permanent-residency\/\">permanent residence<\/a> and extensions of stay, adoption, royal decorations, work in South Korea through the Ministry of Labour, and a first driving licence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So the route for a foreign applicant is unchanged: fingerprints, a physical file, and the Service Center in Lak Si. The practical &#8220;online&#8221; option is to handle it remotely through a lawyer, which is the service described below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"criminal-record\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What happens if you do have a Thai criminal record<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The certificate reports convictions registered in the central criminal records. Where a record exists, the Centre requires two additional documents with the application: a copy of the court judgment and a certified copy confirming the case is final, and processing runs to 25 working days. The certificate will then be issued with the conviction shown; the Centre does not refuse to issue on that ground alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three situations call for advice before you apply. An arrest that did not lead to a conviction, or a case dropped at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thailawonline.com\/glossary\/public-prosecutor\/\">prosecutor stage<\/a>, should not appear. Since 27 May 2023 the Royal Thai Police regulation on fingerprinting (Police Non-Case Procedures, Chapter 32, B.E. 2566) keeps accused persons on a separate register that is not disclosed and removes them from it once the prosecutor issues a final non-prosecution order or the court acquits. The same regulation removes a final conviction from the criminal register after twenty years without reoffending, except for offences the Forensic Science commissioner designates. Errors still happen and can be corrected. A conviction with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thailawonline.com\/suspended-sentences-in-thailand-probation-rules-for-expats\/\">suspended sentence<\/a> is still a conviction and will show. And if you are unsure whether a case was ever closed, the certified copy of finality is the document to obtain first, because the Centre will not process without it. A record can matter at the border under the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979), and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thailawonline.com\/glossary\/overstay\/\">overstays<\/a> lead to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thailawonline.com\/thailand-visa-overstay-criminal-blacklists\/\">blacklisting<\/a>, but the Immigration Act does not govern the certificate itself. None of them mentions that in Thailand your criminal record is protected personal data, and that the law limits what a Thai employer or business may do with the copy you hand over. This matters on both sides of the desk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"pdpa-s26\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Criminal records are sensitive personal data: PDPA section 26<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Section 26 of the Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019) lists <strong>criminal records<\/strong> among the categories of sensitive personal data, alongside health, biometric and racial data. A data controller may not collect sensitive data without the data subject&#8217;s explicit consent unless one of the section&#8217;s listed exceptions applies. The ordinary &#8220;legitimate interest&#8221; basis that covers most HR data does not cover this category. See our glossary entry on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thailawonline.com\/glossary\/pdpa\/\">PDPA<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"pdpc-notification\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The PDPC Notification in force since 7 April 2024<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Personal Data Protection Committee issued a Notification on the criteria and protection measures for the collection of personal data relating to criminal records not carried out under the control of the competent official authorities, B.E. 2566 (2023). It was published in the Royal Gazette on 8 January 2024, in volume 141, special part 7 Ngo, at pages 28 to 29. Clause 2 of the Notification brings it into force ninety days after publication, so it has been in force since <strong>7 April 2024<\/strong>. Under clause 5, a private data controller, which includes an employer, may collect criminal-record data only where (1) a law requires a criminal record check or a check of qualifications or prohibited characteristics relating to criminal acts or punishment, or (2) the data subject gives explicit consent. The Notification also requires the controller to apply security measures to that data and to state the purpose of collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For an employee this means: an employer that asks for a Thai PCC must either point to a legal requirement for the role, as exists for teachers, financial-sector positions and licensed professions, or obtain your explicit, separately documented consent. For an employer it means: a blanket &#8220;police check for all hires&#8221; policy with no legal basis and no explicit consent is a PDPA problem, however routine it feels. Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thailawonline.com\/thailand-employment-law-for-employers\/\">employers&#8217; guide<\/a> covers the hiring side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"penalties\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What happens to an employer who misuses it<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Section 79 of the PDPA makes it a criminal offence for a data controller to use or disclose sensitive personal data in breach of sections 27 or 28 in a way likely to cause damage, harm reputation, or expose the person to hatred or contempt: imprisonment of up to six months or a fine of up to 500,000 baht, or both. Where it is done for unlawful gain the ceiling rises to one year and 1,000,000 baht. Administrative fines under the Act run separately. In practical terms, an employer that circulates a candidate&#8217;s conviction record inside or outside the company, or keeps it on file with no purpose, is exposed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"what-to-ask\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What you can ask an employer to do with the copy afterwards<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You are entitled to know the purpose of collection, to withdraw consent where consent is the basis, and to ask for erasure once the purpose is fulfilled. A reasonable request after hiring is that the employer record only that a check was completed and its result, and destroy the copy of the certificate. Where the employer relies on a legal requirement rather than consent, ask which law, because that determines how long it may keep the record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"sectors\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which sectors ask, and why<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Teaching and childcare roles face the strictest checks; many schools require certificates from both the home country and Thailand before signing a contract, and the requirement is anchored in law for licensed teachers. Banks, securities firms and insurers screen under their own regulators&#8217; fit-and-proper rules. Hospitals and clinics check for roles involving patient care or controlled substances. Elsewhere a check is not a legal requirement for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thailawonline.com\/thailands-new-electronic-work-permit-system-a-complete-guide-for-expatriates\/\">work permit<\/a>, though the labour authorities can ask for one in sensitive roles, and an employer that asks without a legal basis needs your explicit consent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"accepted-abroad\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Getting it accepted abroad: translation, legalisation, and what changes on 28 February 2027<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The certificate is issued in English and certified in Thailand. Most foreign immigration authorities then require the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs to legalise the signature on it, and some countries, Canada and the United Kingdom among them, add a further authentication at their own embassy in Bangkok. Thailand deposited its accession to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thailawonline.com\/glossary\/apostille\/\">Hague Apostille Convention<\/a> on 30 June 2026, and the Convention enters into force for Thailand on <strong>28 February 2027<\/strong>. From that date a Thai public document, the PCC included, bound for another Contracting State needs a single apostille from the designated Thai authority and no embassy step. This review moved the validity answer to the top of the page, separated the home-country certificate from the Thai one, withdrew the &#8220;8 to 12 months&#8221; validity figure that an earlier page on this site had stated without a source, and added the data-protection section. Checked again on 13 September 2026 by a second reviewer, who read PDPA sections 26 and 79 in Thai against the consolidated Act and read the PDPC Notification from the Royal Gazette PDF published on the PDPC website. Clause 2 of that Notification brings it into force ninety days after publication, so the commencement date on this page was corrected from 9 March 2024 to 7 April 2024.
