Bangkok Crime Statistics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bangkok is the capital city of Thailand and is one of the most populous cities in the country. Due to its size and population, Bangkok has historically been a hotbed for crime. However, the Thai government has been working hard to reduce crime rates in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Be careful with claims that crime in the city is rising or falling. The figure most often quoted, below, is a perception index, not police statistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Thai government in Bangkok is working to make the city safer. They are increasing the number of police officers and improving their response time. Cameras are being installed in high-crime areas. Stricter laws and punishments are being enforced for criminals. The offences and penalties themselves are set by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thailawonline.com\/thai-penal-code\/\">Thai criminal code<\/a>, and only Parliament can change them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Numbeo, a crowd-sourced survey of how safe residents and visitors feel, Bangkok&#8217;s Crime Index was 38.42 out of 100 at its 30 August 2026 update, based on 483 contributors. Numbeo classes a score between 20 and 40 as low. It measures perception, not recorded crime, so treat it as a rough guide. The following are some of the most common types of crime in Bangkok:<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Property crime:<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>This includes theft, burglary, and vandalism. Property crime is common in Bangkok. Be aware of your surroundings and protect your belongings to prevent theft.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Drug crime:<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>Drug use and trafficking are also relatively common problems in Bangkok.
