It looks like the Thai ID card but is pink, and identifies the holder for daily life: banks, hospitals, hotels, domestic flights. It is a civil registration document, not an immigration one, and changes nothing about the visa.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-rank-math-toc-block\" id=\"rank-math-toc\"><h2>\u0e2a\u0e32\u0e23\u0e1a\u0e31\u0e0d<\/h2><nav><ul><li><a href=\"#the-legal-basis-and-who-qualifies\">The legal basis and who qualifies<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#applying-at-the-district-office\">Applying at the district office<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#what-the-card-does-and-does-not-do\">What the card does and does not do<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#frequently-asked-questions\">\u0e04\u0e33\u0e16\u0e32\u0e21\u0e17\u0e35\u0e48\u0e1e\u0e1a\u0e1a\u0e48\u0e2d\u0e22<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/nav><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"the-legal-basis-and-who-qualifies\">The legal basis and who qualifies<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><p><strong>Section 38\/1 of the Civil Registration Act<\/strong>, added by the amending Act of B.E. 2562 (2019), and the ministerial regulation of the same year, direct the registrar to issue the card to a foreigner entered in the register. The card is therefore not discretionary: once the name is in the yellow house book (Tor Ror 13) and the 13-digit number has been allocated, the district office issues it on request.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><p>The prerequisite is the yellow book, which requires a lawful stay: a non-immigrant visa with extensions, permanent residency, or registered migrant-worker status, and under the 2019 regulation a continuous stay of at least six months. Tourists and visa-exempt visitors cannot get one. Permanent residents, entered in the blue book, receive the same card. The card is valid for ten years, renewable within 60 days before or after expiry, and a card that is still valid on the holder&#8217;s 70th birthday remains valid for life.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"applying-at-the-district-office\">Applying at the district office<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><p>The application is made at the amphoe or, in municipalities, the tesaban office where the yellow book is registered; in Bangkok it is the khet office. Immigration is not involved. Bring the passport with the current visa or extension, the yellow book, two photographs, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thailawonline.com\/th\/glossary\/marriage-certificate\/\">\u0e43\u0e1a\u0e17\u0e30\u0e40\u0e1a\u0e35\u0e22\u0e19\u0e2a\u0e21\u0e23\u0e2a<\/a> \u0e2b\u0e23\u0e37\u0e2d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thailawonline.com\/th\/glossary\/work-permit\/\">\u0e43\u0e1a\u0e2d\u0e19\u0e38\u0e0d\u0e32\u0e15\u0e17\u0e33\u0e07\u0e32\u0e19<\/a> where relevant, and, at many offices, one or two Thai witnesses with their ID cards. Documents in a foreign language need a Thai translation. The fee is 60 baht, for a first card or a renewal.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><p>The card is issued on the spot in most districts. The common mistake is applying for the card before the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thailawonline.com\/th\/glossary\/tabien-baan\/\">\u0e15\u0e30\u0e40\u0e1a\u0e35\u0e22\u0e19 \u0e1a\u0e32\u0e2d\u0e31\u0e19<\/a> is in hand: the yellow book is the slow step, needing the owner to attend and the address to be verified, and the card follows in minutes once the book exists. It does not give any immigration status: the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thailawonline.com\/th\/glossary\/90-day-notification-of-address\/\">\u0e23\u0e32\u0e22\u0e07\u0e32\u0e19 90 \u0e27\u0e31\u0e19<\/a>, , <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thailawonline.com\/th\/glossary\/tm30\/\">\u0e17\u0e35\u0e40\u0e2d\u0e47\u0e2130<\/a> and the yearly extension continue as before, and the holder is struck from the register if the permission to stay ends. Permanent residency is an immigration status granted by the Ministry of Interior with its own certificate and books. A pink card holder still needs a visa, extensions and 90-day reports.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"faq-question-3\" class=\"rank-math-list-item\">\n<h3 class=\"rank-math-question\">Can I use the pink ID card instead of my passport?<\/h3>\n<div class=\"rank-math-answer\">\n\n<p>Inside Thailand, for most purposes: banks, hospitals, hotels, domestic flights, SIM cards and government offices accept it, and some attractions charge the Thai price on seeing it.
