Visa-Exempt Entry Limits
A November 2025 crackdown limits visa-exempt entries to 2 per calendar year. Frequent travelers should consider a proper Non-Immigrant visa instead.

Thailand expanded visa-free access from 30 to 60 days for 93 eligible countries in July 2024. Extensions of 30 additional days remain available.
3M THB Investment Visa

Frequently Asked Questions About Thailand Visas
The Non-Immigrant O visa (retirement) is the most common option for retirees aged 50+. You need to demonstrate either 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account (maintained for at least 2 months before and 3 months after your extension), or a monthly income/pension of at least 65,000 THB, or a combination of both totaling 800,000 THB. For those with larger savings, the 5-year Non-Immigrant O-X visa requires a 3,000,000 THB deposit. ThaiLawOnline handles the full process from application through annual extensions.
Yes. Thailand's Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) is designed for remote workers and digital nomads. It offers 5-year validity with 180-day stays per entry. You need to show annual income of at least 500,000 THB from foreign sources. The Long-Term Resident (LTR) visa is another excellent option for high-income remote workers, offering a 10-year stay with tax benefits. Both options allow you to work remotely without needing a Thai work permit.
Citizens from 93 eligible countries can enter Thailand visa-free for up to 60 days (since July 2024). This can be extended by 30 days at a local immigration office for 1,900 THB. A Visa on Arrival (VOA) allows 15-day stays for citizens of certain other countries. However, since November 2025, visa-exempt entries are limited to 2 per calendar year, so frequent visitors should consider a proper visa.
While not legally required, using an experienced immigration lawyer significantly saves time, prevents costly mistakes, and increases your approval rates. Thai immigration procedures involve complex paperwork filed in Thai language, strict financial documentation requirements, and periodic regulatory changes that can catch applicants off guard. ThaiLawOnline has successfully handled thousands of visa cases since 2006 and our team speaks English, French, and Thai.
Since May 1, 2025, all foreign travelers must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online before arriving. It replaces the old paper TM6 departure card. You need to submit your passport details, flight information, and Thai accommodation address. The form is free and should be completed at least 72 hours before your flight. ThaiLawOnline can assist you if you have questions or run into problems with the system.
The marriage visa (Non-Immigrant O based on marriage) is available to foreigners legally married to a Thai national. You must demonstrate 400,000 THB in a Thai bank account, or monthly income of 40,000 THB, or a combination totaling 400,000 THB. The visa is initially granted for 90 days and can be extended to one year. Your marriage must be registered in Thailand at the local Amphur (district office).
The work permit itself costs 3,000 THB per year at the Ministry of Labour. However, the full process — including the Non-B visa, company registration compliance (4 Thai employees per 1 work permit, 2 million THB registered capital per permit), and all documentation — typically costs between 25,000–50,000 THB with professional legal assistance. ThaiLawOnline offers comprehensive business visa + work permit packages.
Overstaying is a serious offence in Thailand. Fines are 500 THB per day up to a maximum of 20,000 THB. Overstays exceeding 90 days result in re-entry bans: 1 year for 90+ days, 3 years for 1+ year, 5 years for 3+ years, and 10 years for 5+ years. If caught during a police check rather than voluntarily departing, you may be detained at an immigration detention center and deported, with the ban period doubled. Contact us immediately if you are at risk of overstaying.
Yes, but Thai permanent residency is highly competitive. The quota is limited to 100 persons per nationality per year. You must have held a Non-Immigrant visa for at least 3 consecutive years, meet financial requirements (80,000 THB/month income or equivalent investment), and pass a basic Thai language test. Applications are accepted once per year (typically December–March). ThaiLawOnline assists with the complete PR application, including interview coaching.
All foreigners staying in Thailand on any visa for longer than 90 consecutive days must report their address to Thai Immigration every 90 days. This can be done in person at an immigration office, by registered mail, or online through the immigration website. Failure to report on time results in a 2,000 THB fine. ThaiLawOnline offers an affordable 90-day reporting service so you never miss a deadline.
