The Protection of Children Born from Assisted Reproductive Technologies Act B.E. 2558 (2015) prohibits commercial surrogacy in Thailand. Altruistic surrogacy is permitted only between Thai spouses married for at least three years, using a surrogate who is a blood relative of one of the intending parents. Legal parenthood vests in the intending couple from birth, subject to Medical Council supervision of the clinic.
