Political amnesty is law: the Peaceful Society Act takes effect 24 August

The Royal Gazette has published the Act on Promoting a Peaceful Society B.E. 2569 — Thailand’s political amnesty law — in force from 24 August 2026. It wipes out criminal liability for political offences committed over roughly the last 20 years of street politics, from rally-related charges onward, but pointedly excludes Section 112 (lèse-majesté) cases.
