Active euthanasia — the deliberate ending of a patient’s life to relieve suffering — is a crime in Thailand under Sections 288 and 292 of the Criminal Code and can be prosecuted as murder regardless of consent. Passive euthanasia in the form of advance health directives refusing futile treatment is recognised by Section 12 of the National Health Act B.E. 2550 (2007), allowing terminal patients to decline life-sustaining measures.
