Viral posts claiming that Thailand has freed hotels, restaurants, tour operators, souvenir shops, sports services and language schools from the Foreign Business Licence are wrong. On 14 September 2026 the Director-General of the Department of Business Development, Poonpong Naiyanapakorn, said publicly that those businesses are not in the new regulation at all.
