Procedure by which a foreign document is given legal effect in Thailand, or a Thai document is given effect abroad. In Thailand, legalization involves translation by a certified translator, notarisation, and then certification by the Legalization Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Thailand acceded to the Apostille Convention on 30 June 2026, but it does not enter into force for Thailand until 28 February 2027, so for now an apostille alone is not sufficient.
