ด้วยข้อกำหนดเขียนลงไว้ว่า “ไม่จำเป็นต้องมีคำคัดค้าน” ก็ดี “ไม่มีคัดค้าน” ก็ดี หรือสำนวนอื่นใดทำนองนั้นก็ดี ผู้สั่งจ่ายหรือผู้สลักหลังจะยอมปลดเปลื้องผู้ทรงจากการทำคำคัดค้านการไม่รับรองหรือการไม่ใช้เงินก็ได้ เพื่อตนจะได้ใช้สิทธิไล่เบี้ยข้อกำหนดอันนี้ ย่อมไม่ปลดผู้ทรงให้พ้นจากหน้าที่นำตั๋วเงินยื่นภายในเวลากำหนด หรือจากหน้าที่ให้คำบอกกล่าวตั๋วเงินขาดความเชื่อถือแก่ผู้สลักหลังคนก่อนหรือผู้สั่งจ่าย อนึ่ง หน้าที่นำสืบว่าไม่ปฏิบัติให้เป็นไปตามกำหนดเวลาจำกัดนั้น ย่อมตกอยู่แก่บุคคลผู้แสวงจะใช้ความข้อนั้นเป็นข้อต่อสู้ผู้ทรงตั๋วแลกเงินข้อกำหนดอันนี้ ถ้าผู้สั่งจ่ายเป็นผู้เขียนลงไปแล้ว ย่อมเป็นผลตลอดถึงคู่สัญญาทั้งปวงบรรดาที่ได้ลงลายมือชื่อในตั๋วเงินนั้น ถ้าและทั้งมีข้อกำหนดดังนี้แล้ว ผู้ทรงยังขืนทำคำคัดค้านไซร้ ท่านว่าผู้ทรงต้องเป็นผู้ออกค่าใช้จ่ายเพื่อการนั้น หากว่าข้อกำหนดนั้นผู้สลักหลังเป็นผู้เขียนลง และถ้ามีคัดค้านทำขึ้นไซร้ ท่านว่าค่าใช้จ่ายในการคัดค้านนั้น อาจจะเรียกเอาใช้ได้จากคู่สัญญาอื่น ๆ บรรดาที่ได้ลงลายมือชื่อในตั๋วเงินนั้น

English translation
By inserting the words "protest not required", "no protest", or words to the like effect, the drawer or an endorser may release the holder from the obligation to protest for non-acceptance or non-payment in order to exercise his right of recourse. This stipulation does not release the holder from presenting the bill within the prescribed time, nor from giving notice of dishonour to a preceding endorser or to the drawer. The burden of proving failure to observe the time limits lies on the person who seeks to set it up against the holder. Where the stipulation is written by the drawer, it takes effect as regards all parties who have signed the bill; and if, despite it, the holder makes a protest, he must bear the expense. Where the stipulation is written by an endorser and a protest is nevertheless made, the expense of the protest may be recovered from all the other parties who have signed the bill.
