ผู้ใดเอาสิ่งใด ๆ กีดขวางทางรถไฟหรือทางรถราง ทำให้รางรถไฟหรือรางรถรางหลุด หลวมหรือเคลื่อนจากที่ หรือกระทำแก่เครื่องสัญญาณจนน่าจะเป็นเหตุให้เกิดอันตรายแก่การเดินรถไฟหรือรถราง ต้องระวางโทษจำคุกตั้งแต่หกเดือนถึงเจ็ดปี และปรับตั้งแต่หนึ่งหมื่นบาทถึงหนึ่งแสนสี่หมื่นบาท หมายเหตุ: [อัตราโทษ แก้ไขเพิ่มเติมโดยมาตรา ๔ แห่งพระราชบัญญัติแก้ไขเพิ่มเติมประมวลกฎหมายอาญา (ฉบับที่ ๒๖) พ.ศ. ๒๕๖๐]
English translation
Whoever places anything so as to obstruct a railway or a tramway, causes a railway or tramway rail to become detached, loosened, or displaced, or does anything to the signalling equipment so as to be likely to cause danger to the running of a train or a tram, shall be liable to imprisonment from six months to seven years and a fine from ten thousand to one hundred and forty thousand baht.

Three forms of conduct are covered, obstructing the track, detaching or loosening or displacing the rails, and interfering with signalling equipment, all judged by whether they are likely to endanger the running of a train or tram. The penalty of six months to seven years with a mandatory fine reflects the scale of harm a derailment causes rather than any harm proved in the individual case.
