การถูกกำจัดมิให้รับมรดกนั้นเป็นการเฉพาะตัว ผู้สืบสันดานของทายาทที่ถูกกำจัดสืบมรดกต่อไปเหมือนหนึ่งว่าทายาทนั้นตายแล้ว แต่ในส่วนทรัพย์สินซึ่งผู้สืบสันดานได้รับมรดกมาเช่นนี้ ทายาทที่ว่านั้นไม่มีสิทธิที่จะจัดการและใช้ดังที่ระบุไว้ในบรรพ ๕ ลักษณะ ๒ หมวด ๓ แห่งประมวลกฎหมายนี้ ในกรณีเช่นนั้นให้ใช้มาตรา ๑๕๔๘ บังคับโดยอนุโลม

English translation
The effects of exclusion from the succession are personal. The descendants of the excluded heir succeed as if such heir were dead, nut as regards the property so devolved, the excluded heir has no right of management and enjoyment as specified in Book V title II Chapter III of this Code. In such case Section 1548 shall apply mutatis mutandis.
