ในคำคัดค้านนั้นนอกจากชื่อ ตำแหน่ง และลายมือชื่อของผู้ทำ ต้องมีสำเนาตั๋วเงินกับรายการสลักหลังทั้งหมดตรงถ้อยตรงคำกับระบุความดังจะกล่าวต่อไปนี้ คือ(๑) ชื่อ หรือยี่ห้อของบุคคลผู้คัดค้านและผู้ถูกคัดค้าน(๒) มูล หรือเหตุที่ต้องทำคำคัดค้านตั๋วเงิน การทวงถามและคำตอบ ถ้ามี หรือข้อที่ว่าหาตัวผู้จ่ายหรือผู้รับรองไม่พบ(๓) ถ้ามีการรับรอง หรือใช้เงินเพื่อแก้หน้า ให้แถลงลักษณะแห่งการเข้าแก้หน้าทั้งชื่อหรือยี่ห้อของผู้รับรองหรือผู้ใช้เงินเพื่อแก้หน้าและชื่อบุคคลซึ่งเขาเข้าแก้หน้านั้นด้วย(๔) สถานที่และวันทำคำคัดค้านให้ผู้ทำคำคัดค้านส่งมอบคำคัดค้านแก่ผู้ร้องขอให้ทำ และให้ผู้ทำคำคัดค้านรีบส่งคำบอกกล่าวการคัดค้านนั้นไปยังผู้ถูกคัดค้าน ถ้าทราบภูมิลำเนาก็ให้ส่งโดยจดหมายลงทะเบียนไปรษณีย์ หรือส่งมอบไว้ ณ ภูมิลำเนาของผู้นั้นก็ได้ ถ้าไม่ทราบภูมิลำเนาก็ให้ปิดสำเนาคำคัดค้านไว้ยังที่ซึ่งเห็นได้ง่าย ณ ที่ว่าการอำเภอประจำท้องที่อันผู้ถูกคัดค้านมีถิ่นที่อยู่ครั้งหลังที่สุด

English translation
A protest must contain, in addition to the name, office and signature of the person making it, an exact copy of the bill and of all endorsements, together with the following particulars: (1) the name or business name of the person protesting and of the person protested against; (2) the ground or cause for protesting the bill, the demand made and the answer given, if any, or the fact that the drawee or acceptor could not be found; (3) where there has been acceptance or payment by intervention, the nature of the intervention, the name or business name of the acceptor or payer by intervention, and the name of the person on whose behalf he intervened; (4) the place and date of the protest. The person making the protest must deliver it to the person who requested it and must promptly send notice of the protest to the person protested against. If his domicile is known, notice may be sent by registered post or delivered at his domicile. If it is not known, a copy of the protest must be posted in a conspicuous place at the district office of the locality where the person protested against last resided.
