เมื่อกำหนดเวลาจำกัดซึ่งจะกล่าวต่อไปนี้ได้ล่วงพ้นไปแล้ว คือ(๑) กำหนดเวลาสำหรับยื่นตั๋วแลกเงินชนิดให้ใช้เงินเมื่อได้เห็น หรือในระยะเวลาอย่างใดอย่างหนึ่งภายหลังได้เห็น(๒) กำหนดเวลาสำหรับทำคำคัดค้านการไม่รับรองหรือการไม่ใช้เงิน(๓) กำหนดเวลาสำหรับยื่นตั๋วเพื่อให้ใช้เงิน ในกรณีที่มีข้อกำหนดว่า “ไม่จำต้องมีคำคัดค้าน”ท่านว่าผู้ทรงย่อมสิ้นสิทธิที่จะไล่เบี้ยเอาแก่เหล่าผู้สลักหลัง ผู้สั่งจ่าย และคู่สัญญาอื่น ๆ ผู้ต้องรับผิด เว้นแต่ผู้รับรองอนึ่ง ถ้าไม่ยื่นตั๋วแลกเงินเพื่อให้เขารับรองภายในเวลาจำกัดดังผู้สั่งจ่ายได้กำหนดไว้ ท่านว่าผู้ทรงย่อมเสียสิทธิที่จะไล่เบี้ยทั้งเพื่อการที่เขาไม่ใช้เงิน และเพื่อการที่เขาไม่รับรอง เว้นแต่จะปรากฏจากข้อกำหนดว่า ผู้สั่งจ่ายหมายเพียงแต่จะปลดตนเองให้พ้นจากประกันการรับรองถ้าข้อกำหนดจำกัดเวลายื่นตั๋วแลกเงินนั้นมีอยู่ที่คำสลักหลัง ท่านว่าเฉพาะแต่ผู้สลักหลังเท่านั้นจะอาจเอาประโยชน์ในข้อกำหนดนั้นได้

English translation
On the expiry of the following periods: (1) the period for presenting a bill of exchange payable at sight, or at a fixed period after sight; (2) the period for making a protest for non-acceptance or non-payment; (3) the period for presenting for payment where the bill bears the words "protest not required"; the holder loses his right of recourse against the endorsers, the drawer and the other parties liable, except the acceptor. Where a bill of exchange is not presented for acceptance within the time limited by the drawer, the holder loses his right of recourse both for non-payment and for non-acceptance, unless it appears from the terms of the stipulation that the drawer intended only to exempt himself from the guarantee of acceptance. Where the stipulation limiting the time for presentment is contained in an endorsement, only the endorser may take advantage of it.
