ผู้ใดประชุมในที่ประชุมอั้งยี่หรือซ่องโจร ผู้นั้นกระทำความผิดฐานเป็นอั้งยี่หรือซ่องโจร เว้นแต่ผู้นั้นจะแสดงได้ว่า ได้ประชุมโดยไม่รู้ว่าเป็นการประชุมของอั้งยี่หรือซ่องโจร
English translation
Whoever attends a meeting of a secret society or of a criminal association commits the offence of being a member of that secret society or criminal association, unless that person can show that he attended without knowing that it was a meeting of a secret society or of a criminal association.

This is an unusual provision because attendance alone completes the offence of membership. The burden then shifts in practice: the only escape the section offers is showing that the person attended without knowing what the meeting was. The effect is that presence at the meeting is treated as evidence of belonging unless innocent explanation is produced, which is why proving what the accused knew about the gathering is where these cases are fought.
