บุคคลเก็บได้ซึ่งทรัพย์สินหาย ต้องทำอย่างหนึ่งอย่างใดดังต่อไปนี้(๑) ส่งมอบทรัพย์สินนั้นแก่ผู้ของหายหรือเจ้าของ หรือบุคคลอื่นผู้มีสิทธิจะรับทรัพย์สินนั้น หรือ(๒) แจ้งแก่ผู้ของหายหรือเจ้าของ หรือบุคคลอื่นผู้มีสิทธิจะรับทรัพย์สินนั้นโดยมิชักช้า หรือ(๓)[122] ส่งมอบทรัพย์สินนั้นแก่เจ้าพนักงานตำรวจ หรือพนักงานเจ้าหน้าที่อื่นภายในสามวันและแจ้งพฤติการณ์ตามที่ทราบอันอาจเป็นเครื่องช่วยในการสืบหาตัวบุคคลผู้มีสิทธิจะรับทรัพย์สินนั้นแต่ถ้าไม่ทราบตัวผู้ของหาย เจ้าของ หรือบุคคลอื่นผู้มีสิทธิจะรับทรัพย์สินก็ดี หรือบุคคลดังระบุนั้นไม่รับมอบทรัพย์สินก็ดี ท่านให้ดำเนินการตามวิธีอันบัญญัติไว้ในอนุมาตรา (๓)ทั้งนี้ ท่านว่าผู้เก็บได้ซึ่งทรัพย์สินหายต้องรักษาทรัพย์สินนั้นไว้ด้วยความระมัดระวังอันสมควรจนกว่าจะส่งมอบ

English translation
A person who finds lost property is bound: (1) to deliver it to the loser, the owner or any other person entitled to receive it, or (2) to inform without delay to the loser, the owner or any other person entitled to receive it, or (3) to deliver it within three days to the police or other competent official and inform them of all circumstances within his knowledge which may be material for the person who is entitled to receive it. However, the procedure provided in sub-section 3 must be followed it the loser, owner or other person entitled to receive the property is unknown or does not take delivery of it. In any case the property found must be kept with reasonable care until delivery.
