Thai word for province (จังหวัด). Thailand is divided into 76 changwat plus the special administrative area of Bangkok. Each changwat is governed by a provincial governor appointed by the Ministry of Interior and is further subdivided into amphoe (districts), tambon (sub-districts) and muban (villages).
