ถ้าตั๋วแลกเงินสลักหลังต่อเมื่อสิ้นเวลาเพื่อคัดค้านการไม่รับรองหรือการไม่ใช้เงินนั้นแล้วไซร้ ท่านว่าผู้รับสลักหลังย่อมได้ไปซึ่งสิทธิแห่งการรับรองตามแต่มีต่อผู้จ่าย กับสิทธิไล่เบี้ยเอาแก่บรรดาผู้ซึ่งสลักหลังตั๋วเงินนั้น ภายหลังที่สิ้นเวลาเช่นนั้นแต่ถ้าตั๋วเงินนั้นได้มีคัดค้านการไม่รับรองหรือการไม่ใช้เงินมาแต่ก่อนสลักหลังแล้วไซร้ ท่านว่าผู้รับสลักหลังย่อมได้ไปแต่เพียงสิทธิของผู้ซึ่งสลักหลังให้แก่ตนอันมีต่อผู้รับรองต่อผู้สั่งจ่าย และต่อบรรดาผู้ที่สลักหลังตั๋วเงินนั้นมาก่อนย้อนขึ้นไปจนถึงเวลาคัดค้านเท่านั้น

English translation
If a bill of exchange is endorsed after the time for protest for non-acceptance or non-payment has expired, the endorsee acquires the rights of acceptance, if any, against the drawee, together with the right of recourse against those who endorsed the bill after the expiry of that time. But if the bill had already been protested for non-acceptance or non-payment before the endorsement, the endorsee acquires only the rights of his endorser against the acceptor, the drawer and those who endorsed the bill before the protest.
