Contractual security over immovable property (จำนอง) governed by Sections 702-746 of the Thai Civil and Commercial Code. The mortgagor retains possession and ownership but encumbers the property with a charge in favour of the mortgagee, who may in case of default apply to the court to order a judicial sale. Mortgages must be registered at the Land Department and cannot exceed the value of the secured debt.
