ผู้รับบุตรบุญธรรมและบุตรบุญธรรมจะสมรสกันไม่ได้มาตรา ๑๔๕๒[143] บุคคลจะทำการสมรสในขณะที่ตนมีคู่สมรสอยู่ไม่ได้มาตรา ๑๔๕๓[144] หญิงที่ชายผู้เป็นคู่สมรสตายหรือที่การสมรสสิ้นสุดลงด้วยประการอื่นจะทำการสมรสใหม่กับชายได้ต่อเมื่อการสิ้นสุดแห่งการสมรสได้ผ่านพ้นไปแล้วไม่น้อยกว่าสามร้อยสิบวัน เว้นแต่ (๑) คลอดบุตรแล้วในระหว่างนั้น (๒) สมรสกับคู่สมรสเดิม (๓) มีใบรับรองแพทย์ประกาศนียบัตรหรือปริญญาซึ่งเป็นผู้ประกอบการรักษาโรคในสาขาเวชกรรมได้ตามกฎหมายว่ามิได้มีครรภ์ หรือ (๔) มีคำสั่งของศาลให้สมรสได้
