Section 1693 makes revocation easy in theory but creates conflicts in practice. Common scenarios: testator makes a §1657 holographic will revoking an earlier §1656 will, then tears up the holographic but keeps the §1656 — what's revoked? Default rule: written revocation explicit; physical destruction with revocatory intent is total; later wholly inconsistent will is partial. Always recommend a clean re-execution rather than amendments — modern wills typically include a clause expressly revoking all prior testamentary instruments.
