Section 111 creates no offence of its own. It fixes the punishment of a supporter in the offences against the King, the Queen, the Heir-apparent and the Regent in Sections 107 to 110. Who counts as a supporter is governed by Section 86: a person who by any means aids or facilitates another's commission of an offence, before or at the time of commission, even where the offender is unaware of the assistance. The effect of Section 111 is to remove the two-thirds reduction that Section 86 would otherwise give, so the supporter faces the principal's penalty in full. That is death under Sections 107 and 109, death or life imprisonment under Section 108, and life imprisonment or sixteen to twenty years under Section 110. The section should not be confused with the attempt rules: Sections 107 to 110 each contain their own provision equating an attempt with the completed offence. Section 111 is about supporters, not attempts.
Why this matters in practice
The practical consequence is that a supporter loses the two-thirds discount in Section 86 and faces the same penalty as the person who acts, which can be death. The argument therefore moves off sentencing and onto the facts: whether the accused actually aided or facilitated the offence, and whether they knew what was intended. Help given only after the offence is complete is not support within Section 86, which requires assistance before or at the time of commission. These are offences against the security of the State, they are not compoundable, and counsel should be involved from the investigation stage.
