traduction anglaise
In a small claims case, the court shall have the power to issue an order extending or shortening a period fixed by this Code or by the court, or a period relating to civil procedure fixed by another law, so as to have a procedural step taken, or not taken, before the expiry of that period, where necessary in the interest of justice.

Annotation de l'entreprise
Section 190/3 gives the small claims court a flexible power over time limits, wider than the general provision in section 23, which usually requires an application and exceptional circumstances. Here the court may act on its own initiative to extend or shorten a period, including periods fixed by other laws that relate to civil procedure, whenever it is necessary in the interest of justice. This supports the chapter's aim of speed and practicality, for example by shortening the period for effecting service so that a step takes immediate effect.
Pourquoi cela est important en pratique
This power cuts both ways for litigants. It can help you by granting an extension when a genuine obstacle arises, but it can also compress the timetable, for instance by making service by posting take effect at once rather than after the usual waiting period. In a small claim, watch deadlines closely and do not assume standard waiting periods always apply. See our guide on comparaître devant un tribunal en Thaïlande.
