There shall be a class action officer to assist the court in conducting a class action proceeding as assigned by the court, as follows:
(1) conducting conciliation of the class action;
(2) examining and collecting evidence;
(3) recording witness testimony;
(4) taking action to protect the rights of the parties and class members both before and during the trial;
(5) performing other duties under the provisions of this Chapter or under the rules of the President of the Supreme Court in performing such assistance.
In performing duties under the provisions of this Chapter, the class action officer shall be an official under the Penal Code, and shall have the power to issue a written summons requiring any person to give information or to submit documents in support of the consideration of any matter within his powers and duties.
The criteria and methods for the performance of duties of the class action officer shall be as prescribed in the rules of the President of the Supreme Court.
Where any procedural law provides for a case officer to assist the court in conducting cases as a specific measure, such case officer shall, in addition to the duties under that law, also have the duties under the provisions of this Chapter.

This section, added by the B.E. 2558 (2015) amendment, creates a dedicated court officer for class actions because these cases are larger and more complex than ordinary suits and need active case management. The officer's tasks span conciliation, examining and collecting evidence, recording testimony, and safeguarding the rights of parties and absent class members before and during trial. Two features give the role teeth: while acting under the chapter the officer is an official under the Penal Code, which brings both the protections and the criminal liability of a state official, and the officer may issue written summonses for information or documents. Detailed working rules come from the President of the Supreme Court under Section 222/2.
