อันประทวนสินค้านั้น ย่อมให้สิทธิแก่ผู้ฝากที่จะสลักหลังจำนำสินค้าซึ่งจดแจ้งไว้ในประทวนได้โดยไม่ต้องส่งมอบสินค้านั้นแก่ผู้รับสลักหลัง แต่ว่าเมื่อผู้ฝากประสงค์จะจำนำสินค้า ต้องแยกประทวนออกเสียจากใบรับของคลังสินค้า และส่งมอบประทวนนั้นให้แก่ผู้รับสลักหลัง

English translation
A warrant entitles the depositor to pledge, by endorsement, the goods described in the warrant, without delivering those goods to the endorsee. However, where the depositor wishes to pledge the goods, the warrant must be detached from the warehouse receipt and delivered to the endorsee.
