The executing officer shall safely keep the money, property, and documents obtained under the officer's authority, and shall have power to prevent any person from unlawfully interfering with such money, property, or documents, as well as power to track down and recover such money, property, or documents from any person who has no right to hold them.
In carrying out the actions under paragraph one, where necessary, the executing officer has power to notify administrative or police officials to render assistance. In such a case, the administrative or police officials have power to arrest and detain any person who interferes, or any person with no right to hold as described in paragraph one, to the extent necessary for the performance of the executing officer's duties.

Section 279 sits in Book 4, Title 2, Part 6 among the general powers of the executing officer and protects the integrity of what execution has secured. Once money, property, or documents come into the officer's hands, the officer must keep them safe and is armed with three custodial powers: to bar unlawful interference, to trace, and to recover items from anyone holding them without a right. To make these powers effective against resistance, paragraph two lets the officer summon administrative or police assistance, and those officials may arrest and detain interferers as far as necessary for the officer's duties. The section thus backs the officer's custody of execution assets with real enforcement muscle.
