ให้เป็นหน้าที่ของศาลที่จะปฏิบัติดังนี้
(๑) ลงทะเบียนคดีในสารบบความของศาลตามลำดับที่รับไว้ กล่าวคือ ตามวันและเวลาที่ยื่นหรือเสนอคำฟ้องเพื่อเริ่มคดีต่อศาล ตามที่บัญญัติไว้ในประมวลกฎหมายนี้

It shall be the duty of the court to do the following: (1) to register cases in the court's cause list in the order in which they are received, that is, according to the date and time of the filing or submission of the plaint commencing the case before the court, as provided in this Code; (2) to register all judgments or orders adjudicating cases in the judgment register; (3) to collect the reports and documents submitted to the court or made by the court, together with the orders and judgments of the court, in the case file, and to keep them in a safe place; (4) to make copies of judgments and orders adjudicating cases and to keep them arranged in order and in a safe place; (5) to keep the registers and books of the court, such as the cause list and the judgment register, in a safe place. The preparation of the cause list or the judgment register, the collection of documents in the case file, and the keeping of copies of judgments or orders adjudicating cases under paragraph one (1), (2), (3), (4), and (5) may be done in electronic form, and a printout of such electronic data certified by the method prescribed by the court shall be deemed to be a copy of the cause list or the judgment register, or a copy of a document in the case file, as the case may be, and may be used in place of the original, in accordance with the rules and procedures laid down in a regulation of the President of the Supreme Court with the approval of the plenary session of the Supreme Court; and once such regulation is published in the Government Gazette, it shall be enforceable.

Section 51 sets out the court's administrative record-keeping duties, closing Chapter 5 on reports and case files.
