Article 232: Putting a vehicle in a condition dangerous to persons

ผู้ใดกระทำด้วยประการใด ๆ ให้ยานพาหนะดังต่อไปนี้ อยู่ในลักษณะอันน่าจะเป็นเหตุให้เกิดอันตรายแก่บุคคล (๑) เรือเดินทะเล อากาศยาน รถไฟหรือรถราง (๒) รถยนต์ที่ใช้สำหรับการขนส่งสาธารณะ หรือ (๓) เรือกลไฟ หรือเรือยนต์อันมีระวางตั้งแต่ห้าตันขึ้นไป ที่ใช้สำหรับการขนส่งสาธารณะ ต้องระวางโทษจำคุกตั้งแต่หกเดือนถึงเจ็ดปี และปรับตั้งแต่หนึ่งหมื่นบาทถึงหนึ่งแสนสี่หมื่นบาท หมายเหตุ: [อัตราโทษ แก้ไขเพิ่มเติมโดยมาตรา ๔ แห่งพระราชบัญญัติแก้ไขเพิ่มเติมประมวลกฎหมายอาญา (ฉบับที่ ๒๖) พ.ศ. ๒๕๖๐]
English translation
Whoever does anything to put any of the following vehicles into a condition likely to cause danger to persons:
(1) a seagoing vessel, an aircraft, a train, or a tram;
(2) a motor vehicle used for public transport; or
(3) a steamship or a motor vessel of five tons or more used for public transport,
shall be liable to imprisonment from six months to seven years and a fine from ten thousand to one hundred and forty thousand baht.

Firm annotation
The section lists the vehicles it protects, and the list is the point: a seagoing vessel, aircraft, train or tram; a motor vehicle used for public transport; and a steamship or motor vessel of five tons or more used for public transport. Private vehicles outside those categories are not covered. Liability turns on putting the vehicle into a condition likely to cause danger to persons, so no accident need follow.
