Les biens immobiliers de toute nature peuvent être hypothéqués. Les biens meubles suivants peuvent également être hypothéqués, à condition d'être immatriculés conformément à la loi : (1) les navires de cinq tonneaux et plus ; (2) les maisons flottantes ; (3) les bêtes de somme ; (4) tout autre bien meuble pour lequel la loi prévoit une immatriculation à cette fin.
