การเลิกรับบุตรบุญธรรม ถ้าบุตรบุญธรรมบรรลุนิติภาวะแล้วจะเลิกโดยความตกลงกันในระหว่างผู้รับบุตรบุญธรรมกับบุตรบุญธรรมเมื่อใดก็ได้ ถ้าบุตรบุญธรรมยังไม่บรรลุนิติภาวะ การเลิกรับบุตรบุญธรรมจะทำได้ต่อเมื่อได้รับความยินยอมของบิดาและมารดา และให้นำมาตรา ๑๕๙๘/๒๐ และมาตรา ๑๕๙๘/๒๑ มาใช้บังคับโดยอนุโลม ในกรณีที่ได้รับผู้เยาว์เป็นบุตรบุญธรรมตามมาตรา ๑๕๙๘/๒๑ วรรคสอง มาตรา ๑๕๙๘/๒๒ มาตรา ๑๕๙๘/๒๓ มาตรา ๑๕๙๘/๒๔ หรือมาตรา ๑๕๙๘/๒๖ วรรคสอง ถ้าบุตรบุญธรรมยังไม่บรรลุนิติภาวะ การเลิกรับบุตรบุญธรรมให้กระทำได้ต่อเมื่อมีคำสั่งศาลโดยคำร้องขอของผู้มีส่วนได้เสียหรืออัยการ การเลิกรับบุตรบุญธรรมจะสมบูรณ์ต่อเมื่อได้จดทะเบียนตามกฎหมาย

English translation
Where the adopted child is sui juris, the adoption may be terminated at any time by agreement between the adopter and the adopted child.
Where the adopted child is not yet sui juris, the adoption may be terminated only with the consent of the father and the mother, and Section 1598/20 and Section 1598/21 apply mutatis mutandis.
Where a minor has been adopted under Section 1598/21 paragraph two, Section 1598/22, Section 1598/23, Section 1598/24 or Section 1598/26 paragraph two, and the adopted child is not yet sui juris, the adoption may be terminated only by order of the court on the application of an interested person or of the public prosecutor.
The termination of an adoption is complete only when it has been registered according to law.
