ตามข้อความในลักษณะนี้คำว่า “ผู้รับประกันภัย” ท่านหมายความว่า คู่สัญญาฝ่ายซึ่งตกลงจะใช้ค่าสินไหมทดแทน หรือใช้เงินจำนวนหนึ่งให้คำว่า “ผู้เอาประกันภัย” ท่านหมายความว่า คู่สัญญาฝ่ายซึ่งตกลงจะส่งเบี้ยประกันภัยคำว่า “ผู้รับประโยชน์” ท่านหมายความว่า บุคคลผู้จะพึงได้รับค่าสินไหมทดแทน หรือรับจำนวนเงินใช้ให้อนึ่ง ผู้เอาประกันภัยและผู้รับประโยชน์นั้น จะเป็นบุคคลคนหนึ่งคนเดียวกันก็ได้

English translation
In this Title, "insurer" means the party who agrees to pay compensation or a sum of money; "insured" means the party who agrees to pay the premium; and "beneficiary" means the person entitled to receive the compensation or the sum of money.
The insured and the beneficiary may be one and the same person.
