ภายในบังคับแห่งบทบัญญัติมาตรา ๑๐๐๘ บุคคลผู้ได้ตั๋วเงินไว้ในครอบครอง ถ้าแสดงให้ปรากฏสิทธิด้วยการสลักหลังไม่ขาดสาย แม้ถึงว่าการสลักหลังรายที่สุดจะเป็นสลักหลังลอยก็ตาม ท่านให้ถือว่าเป็นผู้ทรงโดยชอบด้วยกฎหมาย เมื่อใดรายการสลักหลังลอยมีสลักหลังรายอื่นตามหลังไปอีก ท่านให้ถือว่าบุคคลผู้ที่ลงลายมือชื่อในการสลักหลังรายที่สุดนั้น เป็นผู้ได้ไปซึ่งตั๋วเงินด้วยการสลักหลังลอย อนึ่ง คำสลักหลังเมื่อขีดฆ่าเสียแล้ว ท่านให้ถือเสมือนว่ามิได้มีเลย ถ้าบุคคลผู้หนึ่งผู้ใดต้องปราศจากตั๋วเงินไปจากครอบครอง ท่านว่าผู้ทรงซึ่งแสดงให้ปรากฏสิทธิของตนในตั๋วตามวิธีการดังกล่าวมาในวรรคก่อนนั้น หาจำต้องสละตั๋วเงินไม่ เว้นแต่จะได้มาโดยทุจริต หรือได้มาด้วยความประมาทเลินเล่ออย่างร้ายแรง อนึ่ง ข้อความในวรรคก่อนนี้ ให้ใช้บังคับตลอดถึงผู้ทรงตั๋วเงินสั่งจ่ายให้แก่ผู้ถือด้วย

English translation
Subject to Section 1008, a person in possession of a bill who shows his title by an unbroken series of endorsements is deemed to be the lawful holder, even though the last endorsement is in blank. Where an endorsement in blank is followed by another endorsement, the person who signed that last endorsement is deemed to have acquired the bill by the endorsement in blank. An endorsement which has been struck out is deemed not to have been made. Where a person has been dispossessed of a bill, a holder who shows his title in the manner stated in the preceding paragraph is not bound to give up the bill unless he acquired it in bad faith or with gross negligence. The preceding paragraph also applies to the holder of a bill payable to bearer.
