Tant que tous les créanciers connus de la succession ou les légataires n'ont pas été satisfaits par l'exécution ou la distribution des prestations, la succession est considérée comme étant sous administration. Pendant cette période, l'administrateur est habilité, en sa qualité, à accomplir les actes d'administration nécessaires, tels qu'intenter des actions en justice ou déposer des réponses devant les tribunaux. Il prend toutes les mesures nécessaires pour recouvrer les créances dues à la succession dans les plus brefs délais. Une fois les créanciers de la succession satisfaits, il procède à la distribution de la succession.
