เจ้าสำนักต้องรับผิดในการที่ทรัพย์สินของคนเดินทางหรือแขกอาศัยสูญหายหรือบุบสลายไปอย่างใด ๆ แม้ถึงว่าความสูญหายหรือบุบสลายนั้นจะเกิดขึ้นเพราะผู้คนไปมาเข้าออก ณ โรงแรม โฮเต็ล หรือสถานที่เช่นนั้น ก็คงต้องรับผิดความรับผิดนี้ ถ้าเกี่ยวด้วยเงินทองตรา ธนบัตร ตั๋วเงิน พันธบัตร ใบหุ้น ใบหุ้นกู้ ประทวนสินค้า อัญมณี หรือของมีค่าอื่น ๆ ให้จำกัดไว้เพียงห้าพันบาท เว้นแต่จะได้ฝากของมีค่าเช่นนี้ไว้แก่เจ้าสำนักและได้บอกราคาแห่งของนั้นชัดแจ้ง แต่เจ้าสำนักไม่ต้องรับผิดเพื่อความสูญหายหรือบุบสลายอันเกิดแต่เหตุสุดวิสัย หรือแต่สภาพแห่งทรัพย์สินนั้น หรือแต่ความผิดของคนเดินทาง หรือแขกอาศัยผู้นั้นเอง หรือบริวารของเขา หรือบุคคลซึ่งเขาได้ต้อนรับ

English translation
The keeper is liable for the loss of or damage to a traveller's or guest's property in any manner, and remains liable even where the loss or damage was caused by people coming to or going from the hotel, inn or similar establishment.
Where the property consists of money, banknotes, bills, bonds, share certificates, debentures, warehouse warrants, jewellery or other valuables, that liability is limited to five thousand baht, unless the valuables were deposited with the keeper and their value expressly declared.
The keeper is not liable for loss or damage caused by force majeure, by the nature of the property, or by the fault of the traveller or guest himself, of his servants, or of persons he has received as visitors.
