ผู้ใดกระทำให้เกิดเพลิงไหม้แก่วัตถุใด ๆ แม้เป็นของตนเอง จนน่าจะเป็นอันตรายแก่บุคคลอื่นหรือทรัพย์ของผู้อื่น ต้องระวางโทษจำคุกไม่เกินเจ็ดปี และปรับไม่เกินหนึ่งแสนสี่หมื่นบาท ถ้าการกระทำความผิดดังกล่าวในวรรคแรก เป็นเหตุให้เกิดเพลิงไหม้แก่ทรัพย์ตามที่ระบุไว้ในมาตรา ๒๑๘ ผู้กระทำต้องระวางโทษดังที่บัญญัติไว้ในมาตรา ๒๑๘ หมายเหตุ: [อัตราโทษ แก้ไขเพิ่มเติมโดยมาตรา ๔ แห่งพระราชบัญญัติแก้ไขเพิ่มเติมประมวลกฎหมายอาญา (ฉบับที่ ๒๖) พ.ศ. ๒๕๖๐]
English translation
Whoever causes a fire to any object, even one belonging to that person, so as to be likely to cause danger to another person or to the property of another, shall be liable to imprisonment not exceeding seven years and a fine not exceeding one hundred and forty thousand baht.
If the act referred to in paragraph one causes a fire to property specified in Section 218, the offender shall be liable to the punishment prescribed in that Section.

Firm annotation
The striking feature of this section is that the property burned may belong to the offender: what matters is the likelihood of danger to another person or to another's property. That is why it reaches burning your own building or vehicle in circumstances that put neighbours at risk. Paragraph two escalates where the fire spreads to property of the kind protected by Sections 217 and 218, importing those heavier penalties.
