ผู้ใดกระทำให้เกิดเพลิงไหม้โดยประมาท และเป็นเหตุให้ทรัพย์ของผู้อื่นเสียหาย หรือการกระทำโดยประมาทนั้นน่าจะเป็นอันตรายแก่ชีวิตของบุคคลอื่น ต้องระวางโทษจำคุกไม่เกินเจ็ดปี หรือปรับไม่เกินหนึ่งแสนสี่หมื่นบาท หรือทั้งจำทั้งปรับ หมายเหตุ: [อัตราโทษ แก้ไขเพิ่มเติมโดยมาตรา ๔ แห่งพระราชบัญญัติแก้ไขเพิ่มเติมประมวลกฎหมายอาญา (ฉบับที่ ๒๖) พ.ศ. ๒๕๖๐]
English translation
Whoever negligently causes a fire, and that fire damages the property of another, or the negligent act is likely to be dangerous to the life of another person, shall be liable to imprisonment not exceeding seven years, or a fine not exceeding one hundred and forty thousand baht, or both.

Firm annotation
This is the negligence counterpart to the intentional arson offences. Two alternative results suffice: damage to another's property, or a negligent act likely to endanger another person's life. The second limb means no damage need actually occur. The penalty of up to seven years is high for a negligence offence, which reflects how uncontainable fire is once started.
