Si plusieurs personnes sont tenues d'exécuter une obligation de telle sorte que chacune soit obligée de l'effectuer intégralement, bien que le créancier ne puisse l'obtenir qu'une seule fois (par exemple, en cas de codébiteurs solidaires), il peut exiger l'exécution, à son choix, de l'un quelconque des débiteurs, en totalité ou en partie. Tant que l'obligation n'a pas été entièrement exécutée, tous les débiteurs restent tenus.
