ถ้าทำสัญญากู้ยืมเงินกัน และผู้กู้ยืมยอมรับเอาสิ่งของหรือทรัพย์สินอย่างอื่นแทนจำนวนเงินนั้นไซร้ ท่านให้คิดเป็นหนี้เงินค้างชำระโดยจำนวนเท่ากับราคาท้องตลาดแห่งสิ่งของหรือทรัพย์สินนั้นในเวลาและ ณ สถานที่ส่งมอบ ถ้าทำสัญญากู้ยืมเงินกัน และผู้ให้กู้ยืมยอมรับเอาสิ่งของหรือทรัพย์สินอย่างอื่นเป็นการชำระหนี้แทนเงินที่กู้ยืมไซร้ หนี้อันระงับไปเพราะการชำระเช่นนั้น ท่านให้คิดเป็นจำนวนเท่ากับราคาท้องตลาดแห่งสิ่งของหรือทรัพย์สินนั้นในเวลาและ ณ สถานที่ส่งมอบ ความตกลงกันอย่างใด ๆ ขัดกับข้อความดังกล่าวมานี้ ท่านว่าเป็นโมฆะ

English translation
If a loan is made for a sum of money, and the borrower accepts goods or other property instead of such sum, the amount of the debt due shall be considered as equal to the market value of the goods or property at the time and place of delivery. If a loan is made for a sum of money, and the lender accepts goods or other property for the repayment of the loan, the amount of the debt extinguished thereby shall be considered as equal to the market value of the goods or property at the time and place of delivery. Any agreement to the contrary is void.
