A person who is confined shall receive maintenance from the place of confinement but may purchase food from outside for his own consumption, may wear his own clothes, shall receive visitors at a reasonable time and not less than one hour per day, and may send and receive correspondence. Such person must, however, perform work according to the rules and regulations of the place of confinement, or may choose to do other work approved by the place of confinement.
